Bible Verses on Writing & Journaling

Journaling creates a time for intentional reflection and vulnerability with God, and many find it beneficial to journal. Read Bible verses on writing and journaling.

The popularity of journaling has risen a lot in recent years. There is much to say about the value of journaling in the life of a Christian, and the positive impact that it has on your life, and relationship with the Lord.

Though the term “journaling” isn’t found in scripture, there are many ways in which journaling can benefit your walk.

A few ways that Christians all around the world have found journaling beneficial is through journaling their prayers or through to God, like a personal diary of prayers to Him.

Another way that journaling can aid your faith is through writing down ways in which you have been seeing God work or things that He is teaching you lately in scripture and in your life.

Both of these approaches to journaling create a time for intentional reflection and vulnerability with God through prayer. The great thing about journaling is that it requires your focus, and is a wonderful way to look back at the seasons you used to be in, and the way God has been shaping you.

Though the Bible doesn’t explicitly mention journaling, it is easy for us to see how this intentional slowing down, reflection, and prompting help us to be honest, and intentional in what we communicate.

Bible Verses on Journaling

If there was any book in the Bible that stood as a reflection of human emotion, and the troubles we experience in life, it would be the Psalms. The beauty of journaling is that we can bare ourselves before God, pour out our hurts and fears, and remind ourselves of the faithful and merciful God we serve. This is something we can often see in the Psalms.

There are some verses that support the idea of journaling, though it does not explicitly use the term we can see how journaling can be applied.

Luke 2:16-20 – Mary Pondered God’s Promise

So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.

But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced

Psalm 111:12 – The People Pondered & Delighted in God’s Great Works
