What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My motivation to lose weight was my health and wanting to be here for a long time, not just a good time! I am the mother of five and Glam Ma of (so far) 2.5 (another grandson on the way)!

I have always been into fitness, but losing my 19-year-old son (PFC GIFFORD HURT) in Iraq in 2019 changed my whole way of life. I spiraled into a person that I didn’t recognize! I started abusing alcohol and food! I had weight loss surgery in 2014 and lost 75 pounds… then gained it all back! In 2023, I finally took control of my life, stopped drinking alcohol completely on 12/31/22, and started my weight loss journey NATURALLY on 2/3/23! I am currently down 95 LBS!

How did you change your eating habits?
My eating habits haven’t changed! I still eat what I want but in moderation! I stopped drinking alcohol, but that was a personal decision (not just to lose weight). I was never a soda drinker, but I did drink an overabundance of juice. So, I stopped that completely. Now I only drink juice that I cold press with my Nama juicer! I also use my air fryer A LOT (very, very limited intake when it comes to deep-fried foods)! Again, you can eat what you like in moderation!

What is your workout routine?
I do a TOTAL of 37 mins on the treadmill daily! I work out on an incline between 13-15 and on speeds between 3.3-3.5 (depending on how I feel that day)! Next, I weight train using heavy weights! Workout split: Legs one day, shoulders and back, bi’s and tri’s! I do what’s called “progressive overload,” where you maintain the same exercises and weight for weeks until you can increase the weight. I do three sets of 10!

How often did you work out?
I work out 4-6 days per week, depending on how I’m feeling.

What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
Starting weight- 254 pounds (2/3/23)
Current weight- 159 pounds

What is your height?

5’7″

Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
I had WLS (Gastric Bypass) in 2014 and lost 75lbs! I gained it ALL BACK over the years! I also had plastic surgery in 2005 & 2006! (Tummy Tuck, Breast Implants, Full lower body lift, lip to flanks, arms, legs!) People, THESE ARE NOT QUICK FIXES! I am a living testament that you have to put in the work in order to sustain WLS and Plastic Surgery!

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I have surpassed my goals! At the age of 56, I FINALLY learned that your body is your temple, and you have to treat it right! I take supplements, I work out daily, and I’m HEAVILY into self-care (face, neck, body)! I am loving the new me in the 2nd half of my life and will never go back to my old ways!

What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
JUST DO IT!!! Get on IG, TikTok, and FB, and follow exercise influencers to get the exercises you need! FREE INFO! You don’t need a personal trainer to do what I did! You have to exercise! You have to eat responsibly! You can’t exercise away bad eating habits, but you CAN eat the foods you love in moderation and alternatively! Air fry instead of deep fry!
